SYNOPSIS
The Alps, winter.
A woman runs. A man hunts her. Something is waiting for both of them.
Marlene has stolen what she should never have touched, and she is carrying a secret she doesn’t yet know she has. Her escape ends on a mountain road, in the dark, in the snow.
When she opens her eyes she is at Simon Keller’s farmhouse. An ancient place, isolated, far from everything. Keller is a man of few words and precise gestures, raised according to rules no one ever wrote down but that everyone, up there, seems to know.
The farmhouse seems like a refuge.
It isn’t.
In the pigsty, behind an iron gate, something breathes. Something that is hungry. Something that has been waiting for fifty years.
While Marlene discovers what hides in the heart of the farmhouse, the husband she left behind climbs back up the valley. Cold, methodical, unstoppable. He too wants something that belongs to him.
But up there, beneath that nameless mountain, he is not the most dangerous predator.
Sanctuary is a thriller and horror film set in the mountains of South Tyrol — a story of survival, guilt and maternal love that explores the thin line between protection and captivity, between faith and madness, between the living and the dead.
